different needs, but in general, we prioritize individuals who show:

A genuine need for financial support or mentorship Applications
are open throughout the year, and special announcements may be
made for limited-time opportunities.
What is the Mentorship & Transition Aid Grant?

Selected applicants receive a $150 USD grant, used to cover
structured bootcamps and mentorship sessions. Each participant is
paired with an experienced mentor who helps them build skills,
choose a path, and prepare for real job opportunities.

Is the Support Fully Funded?
Most DTFS scholarships are fully funded. In some cases, when full
funding is not available, we provide partial funding to cover the
majority of costs. We aim to ensure that no passionate learner is
left without support.
Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
Yes, you can apply for multiple scholarships as long as you meet the
requirements for each. However, applicants will only be awarded one
grant at a time to ensure fair access.
What if I already have a laptop?
You can still apply for other grants. Many of our programs focus on
mentorship, certification, or advanced learning support and are
ideal for learners who already have basic tools but need guidance or
funding to move forward.
Can I reapply if I’m not selected?
Yes, absolutely. Many successful applicants were not selected on
their first attempt. We encourage you to keep building your skills
and reapply when ready. Stay connected to our community and follow
updates for future openings.
How does DTFS select recipients?
We consider several factors:
- Your passion for tech and what you’ve done so far
- The clarity and realism of your goals
- Your current challenges and resource needs
-
References or recommendations (if included) We look beyond
qualifications to find people who are committed and ready to
grow.
Are there any age limits?
There is no strict age limit. Most DTFS grants are open to youth,
early-career professionals, or adults making career transitions. If
you have the passion and potential, we welcome your application.
Do I need prior tech experience to apply?
Not always. Some programs are designed for complete beginners, while
others like the Advance+ Grant are tailored for individuals with
prior experience. Read each grant description carefully to find what
fits your journey.
Can I get support even if I am not in school or college?
Yes. DTFS supports self-learners, career switchers, and individuals
outside of traditional academic systems. If you are actively
learning and have the drive to grow, you are welcome to apply.
How can I stay updated about new scholarships?
Follow us on social media, subscribe to our newsletter, and
regularly check the website for announcements, openings, and updates
on your application status.
I’m not sure I’m “qualified” enough. Should I still apply?
Yes, definitely. DTFS is not just about how much you already know,
it's about how hungry you are to learn and grow. If you’ve been
making efforts, even with limited resources, and have a passion for
tech, that’s what we care about. Many of our most successful
recipients started out just like you.
What if I’ve been learning on my own using free resources?
That’s exactly the kind of effort we love to see. If you’ve been
studying on your phone, joining free webinars, or teaching yourself
through YouTube and free courses include that in your application.
It shows commitment, and we value that highly.
I don’t have a tech background. Can I still apply?
Absolutely. Many of our scholarships are designed for beginners or
people transitioning into tech from other fields. Whether you're
coming from education, art, finance, retail, or anywhere else if
tech is your next step, we’re here to support that journey.
What if I don’t have strong English or communication skills?
Don’t let that hold you back. We’re not looking for perfect grammar
or polished essays, we're looking for real stories and real passion.
Just be honest, be yourself, and share your journey clearly. We
understand and respect different backgrounds.
How competitive is it? Will I actually have a chance?
Each scholarship is competitive, but don’t let that discourage you.
Many recipients never thought they’d be chosen but they were. If you
meet the criteria and apply with sincerity, you absolutely have a
chance.
What if I only need partial help can I still apply?
Yes. Whether you need full support or just a push to cross the
finish line, you can apply. DTFS offers both fully funded and
partially funded support based on your situation. Just explain what
you’ve done so far and what help you need.
Will I have to pay anything later if I’m selected?
No hidden costs. DTFS grants and scholarships are not loans. They
are gifts of support to help you grow. In some cases where full
funding isn’t available, we might offer partial grants but we’ll
always be transparent about what’s covered and what’s not.
Can someone help me with my application?
Yes. We sometimes offer community support, guides, and example
applications to help you apply with confidence. Follow our social
platforms and check our website for any ongoing support initiatives.
You can also ask a mentor, teacher, or peer to review your
application with you.
What makes a strong application stand out?
A great application shows:
-
Your effort so far (even if it’s on a phone or borrowed device)
- Why you want to learn tech
- What you plan to do with the support
-
A clear and honest story of your journey If you show passion,
intention, and a willingness to grow that’s what stands out
most.
